Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau & Best Cities
The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau is a founding member of Best Cities. An alliance of Convention & Visitors Bureaus around the world, Best Cities partners have made a commitment to deliver superior destination experiences for their clients. Other members include: Edinburgh, Vancouver, Copenhagen, Melbourne, and the most recent additions, Cape Town and Dubai.
The cities were selected on the basis of their commitment to improving CVB client service levels through innovation. The CVB's had to be able to demonstrate a commitment to embrace the growing role of technology in international meetings marketing and the importance of creating a superior client service experience. Other factors such as compatibility of infrastructure, demonstration of international meetings industry success as well as having a global perspective were necessary. As part of the program, the cities are rated annually, by their peers, on such services as: Destination Expertise, Bid Assistance, Convention Planning, Building Attendance, Onsite Event Servicing and Post Event Support. In the most recent survey that took place earlier this year, Boston had the best total average score, followed by Vancouver and Copenhagen. The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau has been recognized as a leader in this partnership in Bid Assistance and Post-Event Support.
The Best Cities alliance offers a combined knowledge and destination expertise of partners that will create synergy that delivers enhanced business returns in the international meetings market. All Best Cities members have access to the most current client business profile information that will save you time and reduce potential for incorrect information during the bid and event development process. And when you bring a meeting to a Best Cities partner destination, the CVB will guarantee a consistent standard of service.
In addition to the service standards that the partner cities share, they also have much more in common -- all are destinations rich in culture and diversity. If you've already held a meeting in Boston, Vancouver, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Copenhagen, Dubai, or Cape Town, consider trying another Best Cities destination for your next meeting.

· What's Hot: Spouse Tours |
|
Boston is a great destination, not only for meetings, but for vacations as well. Whether you go to the Maine coast or New Hampshire's White Mountains; visit Newport's famous Mansions or take in the culture of the Berkshires, it's often not more than a two-CD drive from Boston. Encourage your delegates to bring their partners or families to Boston, and don't worry that there won't be anything for them to do. The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Services Department is full of ideas - and members have good ideas as well.

· What's New: Boston Restaurants |
|
There's new news coming out of Boston every day! New hotels, restaurants, attractions, programs and other ideas that will show how Boston can meet all of your meeting needs. In our first issue we featured new hotels. In this issue, read more about Boston's newest restaurants.......and if you're in town August 18 - 22, 2003 join us for Boston's annual Restaurant Week!
Restaurants: Not to be outdone by the hotel industry, Boston's restaurant scene is growing every day. Here is just a small selection of new places you'll find for dining and events: Steps from Harvard Yard, Upstairs at the Square is a multi-floored fine restaurant and eclectic bar decorated in coral and gold leaf and is run by the creators of the former Upstairs at the Pudding in Harvard Square. Next door to the Hilton Back Bay Hotel, famous Boston chef Jasper White has opened Summer Shack. It's joined by the Lyons Group King's, a new lounge-bowling alley attraction. In Boston's downtown "Leather District" Epiphany has opened with an Asian inspired menu, small & large plates, and a dramatic red bar. What surprises most visitors is that the restaurants that are found in the Boston & Cambridge hotels are good enough to stand on their own: Recently opened Bambara, at the new Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, is an American Brasserie that features a fun, whimsical design, high energy bar and restaurant with an outdoor patio. At the new 190-room Nine Zero Hotel you'll fine Spire Restaurant. It's called "Spire" because the landmark Park Street Church steeple is across the street from the new hotel and breathtaking views of it, and Boston Common, can be seen from the dining room. And Jer Ne, is a 116-seat restaurant at the new 191-room Ritz CarltonBoston Common Hotel. The restaurant showcases seafood and meat "with Asian roots".
