Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre
Recognized for Green Initiatives
Aberdeen, Scotland: Committed to being a green friendly facility, Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre (AECC) has been recognized by the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) with Silver Status for environmental awareness following a visit by the acclaimed organization.
The AECC was given the second highest accolade by the GTBS in recognition of their environmental efforts and impressive feedback from the GTBS, after a careful audit of the establishment in October, 2004.
The Green Audit Report revealed that the AECC excelled in Energy Saving, Water Issues and Waste Minimization – three increasingly important issues that clients and visitors alike are recognizing.
Several measures have been initiated as part of the Center’s growing involvement with environmental work. These include: the use of more recycling bins; the storing and disposing of all materials in accordance with the latest legislation; numerous energy and water saving devices; green approved catering equipment and food suppliers; and the creation of an Environmental Policy.
The Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre has put the following measures in place:

“I am very pleased that we have achieved a silver award on our first attempt. Recycling, energy saving and being ‘environmentally friendly’ is becoming ever more important to businesses and customers and I feel this award demonstrates the level of dedication and professionalism shown by AECC in all aspects of the business,” said AECC Director of Sales & Marketing, Brian Horsburgh. “The green measures put in place will benefit the Center, our clients and the general public and the award we have received recognizes that.”
